This is Our Story

My husband and I are going on a journey together.  A healthy journey.  You can follow us on Instagram @scott_under_construction and @secretly_adorkable!  We have been married over 17 years and one day we were tired the way we were living.  No energy, eating out all the time, and spending more money on food when we could be putting that money back for retirement and to build a house.  We both had our own health issues going on and it was enough to make a decision to make a change now or have a shorter life.

On April 5, 2017, my world changed.  I had to have a full hysterectomy because I had endometriosis really bad.  After my month of recovery, my husband and I started going to the gym.  The rest shows above of our healthy journey.  This is just the beginning.  Scott & I have lost over 145 lbs together and still counting.  We will keep you updated!

The Stupid In Love Series by Cindy Miles

Stupid Girl

Only fools fall in love...

After her senior year of high school leaves behind nothing but heartache, Olivia Beaumont is sure of this: She’s no stupid girl. She sets out for Winston University, promising herself that she will remain focused on her first and only love – astronomy. But all it takes is cocky sophomore Brax Jenkins and an accidental collision with a football, to throw her entire year off course.

A quick-tempered Southie who escaped the inner city streets of Boston to pitch for Winston, Brax is known to play way more fields than just the baseball diamond. So, when his name is drawn to take part in his fraternity’s hazing dare, Brax eagerly accepts the mission to take Olivia’s virginity. But he doesn’t plan on falling hard for the sweet and sassy Texas girl who sees right through his bad-boy persona.

As Olivia and Brax battle their feelings for each other, echoes of the past year begin to surface. A boy who once turned Olivia’s whole world upside down reappears, and “harmless” pranks wreak havoc. Pretty soon the aspiring astronomer is on the verge of revealing her most difficult, heartbreaking secret. All the while, Brax must wrestle with the irrevocable dare, and Olivia struggles against all logic as she does the one thing only a stupid girl would do: fall in love.

Stupid Girl (Stupid in Love, #1)Stupid Girl by Cindy Miles

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brax Jenkins and Olivia Beaumont are the most envied couple at Winston University—but the so-called “virginity dare,” orchestrated by Brax’s old fraternity, almost tore them apart. Now, a new dare is taking shape, and it’s sure to set emotions ablaze--more than ever before.

Winston’s “It Girl” Harper Belle isn’t just president of the Deltas--she’s also a master at keeping her ugly past a secret. So, when the Kappas’ dare hits closer to home for her more than anyone realizes, she devises a competition of her own as payback. Three sorority sisters will seek out a notorious womanizer on campus and--unbeknownst their “mark”--secretly train him to be the perfect boyfriend. Always up for a challenge, Harper targets the biggest player she can find: Brax’s wickedly handsome foster brother Kane McCarthy.

But, Harper discovers there’s much more to Kane than girls, games, and partying. His easy smile belies the quiet, old soul reflected in his deep brown eyes. All it takes is one night, one secret laid bare, and one kiss from Kane to shift Harper’s world on its axis. Suddenly, the girl who’s always walked a straight and narrow path can’t think of anything else except losing control."Fascinated, more than likely, because I wasn't twirling my hair, fake-sighing and throwing myself at him. Plus, he thought I was a virgin. That's a novelty to any guy. Something off limits, forbidden. It's like a red flag to a bull. A green flag to a race car driver." ~ Olivia

Go & meet two broken people from two very different pasts, Olivia Beaumont-farm girl from Texas & Braxton Jenkins-baseball player from Boston! I gave it 5 Stars.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is Harper and Kane's story which I thought was better than Olivia and Brax's story. I fell in love with both characters and the feelings of the characters brought out the true emotions of their pasts to help them become stronger together. I was gifted this book from the author from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did and cannot wait for what Cindy has in store for us next!

Stupid Love

Bestselling new adult author Cindy Miles is set to capture the hearts of STUPID GIRL fans again with the grand finale of the Stupid in Love series, featuring Memory and Jace.

MEMORY

Casualties.

That’s how I refer to the guys who’ve had the bad fortune to fall for me. They only see long legs that they wish were wrapped around them, a cat-like smile, and the reckless abandon to take on any wild dare. It’s all a game to me. Show me a bridge, and I’ll leap over the side. Give me a car, and I’ll race it. Give me a heart, and I’ll break it. I always win. I even showed Death who was boss a long time ago.

Or so I thought.

Now, time is running out, and I’m losing fast…and big. I met someone. Jace Beaumont. He’s smart, and good, and I dream about spending days exploring the summit of his perfect lips. But, I’m a grenade. I know I should leave him be. I can’t.

JACE

Study, class, work, repeat. That’s all I have time for. At twenty-five years old, I have a bit more mileage on me than the average college freshman. But, that’s what happens when you spend your youth drinking, partying, and bagging girls like it’s a full-time job. Now, I have goals. There’s just one kink in my plans. Her name is Memory. She’s every guy’s dream girl. She’s intoxicating. She’s trouble. I want to stay away. I can’t.

Cathleen Armstrong synopsis & reviews

Synopsis for Welcome to Last Chance

The red warning light on her car dashboard drove Lainie Davis to seek help in the tiny town of Last Chance, New Mexico. But as she encounters the people who make Last Chance their home, it’s her heart that is flashing bright red warning lights. These people are entirely too nice, too accommodating, and too interested in her personal life for Lainie’s comfort-especially since she’s on the run and hoping to slip away unnoticed.
Yet in spite of herself, Lainie finds that she is increasingly drawn in to the dramas of small town life. An old church lady who always has room for a stranger. A handsome bartender with a secret life. A single mom running her diner and worrying over her teenage son. Could Lainie actually make a life in this little hick town? Or will the past catch up to her even here in the middle of nowhere?

Cathleen Armstrong pens a debut novel filled with complex, lovable characters making their way through life and relationships the best they can. Her evocative descriptions, observational humor, and talent at rendering romantic scenes will earn her many fans.

Welcome to Last Chance (A Place to Call Home, #1)Welcome to Last Chance by Cathleen Armstrong

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Welcome to Last Chance, Pop. 743!

I received this as a gift from a Bible House that my mother in law works at to read and review. I really enjoyed it and cannot wait to read the next two books. They are all stand alone's and written in 3rd POV.

All it took was Lainie Davis's red warning light on her car dashboard to end up at Last Chance, New Mexico. She will encounter several people that will soon change her life but Lainie has a secret of her own. She is running from a 5 year relationship that she did not want to be a part of when she found out her ex boyfriend was involved with selling drugs.

Lainie will meet the gorgeous bartender Ray, his grandmother Elizabeth Cooley, and the diner owner Fayette & Matthew. I really enjoyed the humor and lovable characters throughout the adventure in this story. I did feel like the ending was rushed and really wanted more.

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did, I am not a big of a fan with 3rd POV storys and prefer 1st POV but when I started reading it, I was sucked in from the first chapter and couldn't stop.

Synopsis for One More Last Chance

Sarah Cooley has come home to Last Chance, New Mexico, for one reason–because it doesn’t change. After an engagement gone bad with a man who wanted to change everything about her, Sarah is more than ready for the town whose motto may as well be, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Chris Reed, on the other hand, wants nothing more than to spark some change in the little town. As the new owner of the Dip ‘n’ Dine, he’s shaking things up to draw folks from all over the Southwest into his restaurant.

As it turns out, the winds of change are blowing into Last Chance–just not in the ways that Sarah or Chris might expect.  With the same evocative writing and fascinating characters that won fans for her debut novel, Cathleen Armstrong invites readers back to Last Chance for a soul-searching, romantic story of two people navigating the twists and turns of small-town life.

Synopsis for At Home In Last Chance

Kaitlyn Reed and Steven Braden have always had a similar philosophy of life: when the going gets tough, they get going--out of town and away from the problem. Now they are both back in Last Chance, New Mexico, and trying to start over. Kaitlyn is working to reestablish a relationship with the seven-year-old daughter she left behind six months earlier. Steven is trying to prove to his family that he is not the irresponsible charmer they have always known him to be. As Kaitlyn and Steven find themselves drawn to one another, one big question keeps getting in the way: How will they learn to trust each other when they don't even trust themselves?

With emotional depth and characters who leap off the page and into the reader's psyche, Cathleen Armstrong continues to delight her readers and win new fans. Readers will be thrilled to return once more to the small town they've grown to love.

About The Author

I grew up in New Mexico knowing two things were true:  Any time you could spend reading was time well spent, and that one day I, too, wanted to write books. Both certainties presented problems. In the first instance, my parents and teachers felt that while reading was good, even wonderful, time must also be allotted to chores, homework, and even social interaction. Psssh. They never did convince me on that one.

The second difficulty was harder to get around. I knew I was supposed to write what I was familiar with, but my family had not cooperated in placing us someplace interesting. I thought if they had tried just a little harder, if my granddad had homesteaded in, oh, New York City, or my parents had taught school in, say, China, I would be loaded with fascinating things to write about. But as it was, we all lived in ordinary New Mexico, with its ordinary hundred mile vistas, ordinary thunderstorms boiling up on a hot summer afternoon and pounding the earth before they rumbled away at sunset. And ordinary people with names like Baca and Begay whose roots reached from hundreds to thousands of years into the pale, gravely soil. You can see my predicament.
The reading never stopped, but the writing was put on hold as I married my high school sweetheart, and moved with him first to Arizona and then to California. Our three children came, grew up, married and began families of their own with a speed that still makes my head spin.
Finally it is time to write, and I have long since realized that the last word that describes my home state is ordinary. Long ago it began to be known as The Land of Enchantment.  I can’t wait to show you why.

Shattered Rose (Winsor #1)Shattered Rose by T.L. Gray

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

loved it! This series is best for teen issues & parents of teens & YA. Very inspirational & uplifting with a very clean romance with a love triangle Avery, Jake & Parker. Also, this is an Amazon Freebie right now!

"Lord, I know there will be times in her life when she feels lost and broken. I pray in her weakness that you become her strength..."

Wow, every chapter ends with a prayer of the subject of that chapter. Avery faces a disease called bulimia because she was always told to she was fat when she was younger or not pretty enough. She replaces food by running but when she hits rock bottom, she has the craving of eating and throwing it all up again.

"Numbness stretched over my shaking body, leaving me cold and empty. If only it would reach my mind, consumed still with my thoughts of him. Thoughts frozen in permanent rewind, reminding me over and over again of how much I had failed." ~ Avery

Avery is in college and moves in with her roommates which she will face challenges and temptations and choices to overcome more obstacles over the once she already faces each day.

Falling in love, heartbreak, depression, temptations

"You said you were flawed and damaged, but my love, we all are. The storms in your life don't make you less than perfect; they make you beautiful and full of character, with the ability to use all you've learned to impact the rest of the world." ~Parker

Avery has always had a choice, but will she see the truth that is in front of her or will her temptations lead her astray?

"You never lost me," he said sweetly as he wiped the tears from my face. "You just had to finally open your eyes before you could find me."

I fell in love with both Jake and Parker and even though both are in Avery's life, she needs to choose. First, she needs to accept someone else in her life and make a change before it is too late.

Shackled Lily is the second book in the Winsor Series, but can be read as a stand alone novel. This is Lily and Grant's story!

Shackled Lily (Winsor #2)Shackled Lily by T.L. Gray

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"He was rocking me back and forth like a child, and I let him comfort me the way my father never could. When I had finally cried the last of the tears I had been holding onto that day, I sat up and looked at my prince charming."

This series rocks! I had never heard of this author and found her through a mutual friend author Sherry Gammon because I was looking for more clean romances, inspirational, YA. You will get it all packed in one series plus some gut-wrenching twists as well. This is Issy's and Grant's story which deals with parent issues and other real teen issues that is faced today. I wished I had something like this to read when I was younger because I think it would truly help our teens and YA today to show that God can help them overcome their what they are facing in this sinful world. I recommend this series to all the readers out there, especially parents of teens and YA too.

"My heart was fluttering as I felt his breath on my neck. "You don't have to run away from me." I turned around to look up at him, trying to steady my breathing. His caramel eyes locked with mine, and I could see his chest was moving as erratically as mine was. I glanced at his lips, slightly parted and so soft that I couldn't stop my body from moving forward. I leaned into him and lightly put my lips to his. He wrapped his arms around me, cradling my head and kissed me fully and completely. It was a kiss that made me forget any other I had ever felt. I had spent years dreaming of this kiss and it was beyond even my overactive imagination. When he finally released me, his hand immediately on my neck, his thumb running softly over my flushed cheek. "You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that," he admitted. "How long?" I asked in the same labored voice. "Way longer than was legal," he stated with a grin.

Splintered Oak (Winsor #3)Splintered Oak by T.L. Gray

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"Long gone was the girl who hid in the shadows. The poor girl in a rich school. The half Hispanic girl in the white neighborhood. The Christian surrounded by those who didn't believe in anything."

This is Jake and Naomi's story which also had a follow up of the other characters as well from the previous stories. The series just gets better and better. I am tickled to death to finally find a series that is so earth shattering and life changing to read.

"I was alone, battered, lost, and abandoned by everyone in my life, because I was never enough for them."

It has kept me on the edge of my seat and keeps you guessing on the outcome. I love it dearly and cannot wait for more from this author. I did not want to say much to spoil anything for you guys.

"The need to see her was like a burning coal in my chest. She had become my light in this ever present darkness."

This series is well worth the buy and read! I am promoting it on all my Blog pages as well!

"That was the moment it hit me. The Lord had been preparing me all this time. Little details I had missed, taken for granted, had all been done to get me to this exact point. The magnitude of His sovereignty hit me. Even while I resisted, and long before I surrendered, God was working in my life-guiding me, protecting me, and training me."

All for Anna (Letting Go #1)All for Anna by Nicole Deese

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is so not what I was expecting and so excited to find a very clean and inspirational romance series! I just got down reading the third book and went back to review and add some things to the first two so I could create a promotion on my Blogger for the series. I am so recommending this series to friends and family!

"I only want to see you freed, Outside the walls you cannot see,
So break away from debts not yours, Receve the grace that's been out-poured.

So take your time and take your space, I'll be here while you navigate,
My love for you alone will wait, My love for you alone will wait"

I love Kai & Tori's story. It is about the tragedy of a little girl and how two people come together through God's direction. You will not be disappointed. Love this series and all three books are out and are standalones!

All She Wanted is the 2nd book in the series

Choices.

They determine how we live, who we are, and what we want.
Some choices are made for us. Others we must make for ourselves.

Charlie Lexington is a living consequence of both.

Everything about the feisty redhead represents a second chance—even her name. Though she was rescued at the age of five, her past is a lingering reminder of what she longs for most.

And the one thing she has spent a lifetime trying to find.

After a series of less-than-stellar choices, her Performing Arts Scholarship now hangs by a thread. Her sudden suspension has not only resulted in her father’s disappointment, but in the loss of her freedom as well.

She is forced to face the music: four weeks house arrest.

Briggs is the carefree, charming, yet all-too-mouthy fireman who is asked to keep an eye on the pretty little spitfire. He quickly learns, however, that his first assessment of her was off—she’s tougher than she looks. When her stubborn resolve pushes his sanity and intercepts his heart, his loyalties are put to the test.

Sometimes the hardest choice we make, is the one we must make for love…

All She Wanted (Letting Go, #2)All She Wanted by Nicole Deese

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

All it takes is God's perfect timing....

Charlie Lexington needs to make a choice, a decision that will affect her future, a second chance. Her Performing Arts Scholarship is hanging on by a thread due to a previous break up with her ex-fiancé. Now, she is suspended from the Dean to take some time off or she may lose everything she has worked for.

House arrest.....

Briggs, a care free and charming fireman, did I mention he worked for Charlie's father, the fire Chief? He has a job, a job to look after the pretty little spitfire. This is a very emotional yet touching story of finding true love by just learning through our own consequences and making the right choices.

1 Cor 13:1-8

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always, always hopes, always perseveres.

Angela Flores is a survivor.

Struggling to rebuild her life after she was brutally attacked and left her for dead six years ago, Angie takes comfort in the quiet home life she’s created with her son Cody in the suburbs of Dallas. But simple just became a lot more complicated.

When Angie’s blog goes viral, the unexpected begins to happen. Suddenly, she’s signing with a publicist and heading to New York City for the summer, where she meets brooding bachelor Jackson Ross. Though she is drawn to the mysterious CEO of Pinkerton Press, her instincts are as unreliable as her heart.

She won’t fall victim to a man ever again.

Jackson is well-versed in the art of denial. His perfect facade has been nearly impenetrable—until now. When the details of Angie's past are targeted by scandal, Jackson urges her to confront her fear despite his refusal to do the same. But neither of them can move forward without first uncovering one vital truth...

That while some keep fighting to survive, all who dream will find the courage to live.

All Who Dream (Letting Go, #3)All Who Dream by Nicole Deese

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go." Psalms 91:11

This is Brigg's older sister's sister from the 2nd book.

A single mother & a survivor of domestic abuse from her ex-husband. Years later, Angela Flores's Blog "A Lone Joy" goes viral and has an opportunity to go on a publicist tour for Pinkerton Press.

Angie is introduced to the hot bachelor & owner of Pinkerton Press, Mr Ross aka Jackson Ross.

"But as stunning as Jackson Ross was to behold, what lurked beneath the surface he portrayed was something as dark as it was mysterious."

I love this series and hoping for more from this author. The reading is very inspiring. This type of romance needs to be promoted to not only witness & to help others who go through the same type of situations but also to avoid bad language and mention of sex in books. Being a Christian myself but also pastor's wife, a clean romance is very appreciated. Thank you for all you do. I will be promoting this series on my Blogger and FB Blog as well!

"Life here was so different from what I knew; yet as I glanced at Jackson, I realized different had many definitions. And sometimes different was exactly what was needed."

"In a sea filled with unknowns, a wave of relief crashed over me. It was then I realized that Jackson wasn't in the sea. Jackson was the wave."

He's harbored a secret crush on her from day one, and now that she is in the center of the case, he's trying to stay clear and objective while walking the line between business and unrequited love.

Maggie is truly the poster child for Heroin Chic, complete with jutting bones and dark-ringed eyes, but is she an addict, or is there another reason for her appearance? She struggles with her feelings for Seth, fearing he is just another person who will eventually let her down, as everyone in her life has done thus far.

Maggie has spent her life caring for her alcoholic mother. A task that has left her heavily burdened and alone. Before long, her mother's health takes a turn for the worst, sending Maggie's life into a tale-spin.

While Seth works relentlessly to inject fear into the dealers and flush them out into the open, Maggie fights to stay alive as the hunt turns deadly.

Seth and Maggie's romantic journey is one of humor, heartbreak, and self-discovery

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved Seth & Maggie's story and their story continues throughout the other two books as well even though they are not the main characters in them. You will get to see Cole and Bookers story also.

Seth is one of my favorite all time book boyfriends. He is the ultimate hero to Maggie's story. Not only her hero but the one to help her heal her broken heart back together and know what the true meaning of love really is since she has never been loved in her whole life. This book was a thrilling ride full of suspense and will pull at your emotions from the abuse that Maggie endures from her hateful mother. This book is one of the main reasons why I started reading a couple of years ago. I am so glad that I am fixing to start reading Booker & Tess's story now!

Booker's story is finally here!

Eek! I am so torn on which book was the best. I just don't know what to say, I had to take a day or two to be able to come back to fully review this book and series. I am going to promote this series on my FB blog, goodreads, Amazon, and of course my Blogger. It is worth the read and please don't miss out on this series. It will stay with you for a very long time. I read Unlovable a couple of years ago and then Unbelievable last Christmas.

"Tess dipped her head, sharing that beautiful smile of hers with the ground. I allowed myself to entertain the idea that maybe she was just shy, and I was overreacting. But I knew I wasn't. Yet, I didn't want to know what was going on with her. I preferred the "ignorance is bliss" philosophy for once. No more chaos. Yea, who was I kidding? I'd be stewing on it, more than I wanted to. So much for the quiet life."

I loved Booker and Tess's story. I already knew that Booker had a very sad and broken past but this book will explain in detail of what happened that day years ago when his family was murdered in front of him. Then, we have Tess who has a very broken past as well and each time I cried when I read what had happened to her. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time during this book. Unlovable will always be my fave but this one is very close to it then Unbelievable. I love Booker, Cole, and Seth and the girls. I so cannot wait for the movie they are making for Unlovable and I hope they will make a movie of all three. That would be fantastic!!

"The guy did have a great smile. Fun personality, sexy smile, and a good heart. Yup, Booker Gato was swoon-worthy."

I really enjoyed this series and glad all the guys found their HEA. I will forever hold this series and carry in my heart for a long time. Thank you Sherry for all you do and cannot wait for more of your writing to be published. I really appreciate how you can find a good YA read full of suspense/thriller/action and hot swooning clean romance! If that is what you are looking for, look no further, this series is for you! Hope you enjoy!

"We stood there, two damaged souls, pouring everything we had into the kiss. A beautiful, mind-blowing kiss."
